Prepare a rental requirement when sharing with others

Agree who intends to stay, how rooms will be used and what each person can manage before discussing homes. Share one current requirement with our team. Ask the owner about the proposed occupants and arrangements for the particular home rather than assuming a shared rental will be accepted.

Before you speak to us

  1. Tell us what you need

Keep your area, budget and must-haves ready.

  2. Ask your questions

Write down what still needs checking.

  3. Discuss the next step

Decide what to check before going ahead.

What should the group agree before calling?

Decide who is part of the search and who will speak for the group. Discuss bedrooms, bathrooms, working hours and space for shared belongings. If someone is still undecided about moving, explain that when describing the proposed household.

Write one common budget and note any different limits within the group. Keep rent, advance or security deposit and other amounts separate. You do not need to send individual earnings or private financial papers to explain the amount the group wants to discuss.

What should you ask the owner?

Describe the people intending to stay and how the home would be used. Ask which proposed arrangements the owner is willing to discuss, including visitors, changing occupants or separate room needs. Keep each answer connected to this particular home.

If a point is still being considered, do not present it to the group as confirmed. Decide who will collect the answer and update everyone. Having several people speak separately without sharing notes can leave the group working from different information.

How can the group compare options fairly?

Use the same questions for each home and let each person record a practical concern. Consider daily routines as well as the bedroom count. A room arrangement that suits one person may need another discussion before it suits the whole household.

After visits, agree which concerns remain important and which compromises everyone accepts. Tell our team when the number of occupants, budget or moving date changes. Keep one version of the requirement so the next property discussion reflects what the group has actually agreed.
