Prepare a sale discussion when several owners are involved
Tell our team that more than one owner is involved and identify the person coordinating the first discussion. Keep agreed points separate from decisions still open between the owners. Do not present one person’s preferred price or timing as a shared decision until the others have confirmed it.
Before you speak to us
- Tell us what you need
Keep your area, budget and must-haves ready.
- Ask your questions
Write down what still needs checking.
- Discuss the next step
Decide what to check before going ahead.
Which decisions should be discussed together?
Ask the people involved what they want from the sale and which timings matter to them. A shared aim does not mean everyone has decided on the same price, included items or moving plan. List the points that remain open.
Prepare one current description of the property for the discussion. If an owner is unavailable, explain which decisions are awaiting their input. You can describe the coordination needed without sending private papers or personal contact details for every person on the first call.
Who should coordinate everyday updates?
Choose a person who can collect questions and share updates with the others. Explain what they can discuss and which points need another conversation with the owners. A contact for messages is not automatically the person who can settle every decision.
Keep notes of changes in price expectations, access and timing. Tell our team when the agreed contact changes. This avoids different people receiving conflicting versions of the requirement while the owners are still deciding what they want.
What should be clear before responding to interest?
Before asking for a response to an offer, check which parts the owners have discussed together. Record questions that need an answer rather than presenting an unfinished decision as settled.
Ask the relevant professionals about any ownership or signing question before relying on an assumption. Our first conversation can identify who is involved and what needs coordination. It does not confirm that a particular person can complete the sale on behalf of everyone else.
What to do now
Call with the coordinating contact and a short list of agreed and undecided sale points.
