Prepare a vacant home for a useful rental visit
Check who can open the home, which spaces can be seen and whether your property description is current. Keep furnishing and condition questions ready for the visit. A vacant home should not be described as ready for moving merely because no one is staying there.

Decide what to check before going ahead.
What should you check before proposing a visit?
Confirm the person who can attend and whether the entrance and rooms can be shown. If the home has not been visited recently, ask someone suitable to check its current condition before relying on an old description.
Identify spaces that need a separate access arrangement, such as a parking area or shared facility a visitor wants to see. Tell our team which parts are confirmed for the appointment. Do not ask visitors to travel while the basic access arrangement remains unclear.
Which details should match the home as it is?
Review the furnishing list and any photographs you intend to discuss. Explain if something shown has been removed or a room has changed. Keep personal items and private papers out of property-sharing material.
List items needing attention or inspection separately from completed work. Ask an appropriate person to check any uncertain condition. Empty rooms can make viewing easier to arrange, but they do not establish that every item or service has been checked.
What should be clear after the visit?
Collect questions about inclusion, condition and possible moving dates. Identify who can answer each point and how the next update will be given. A viewing should produce a clearer requirement, rather than a general promise that everything will be arranged.
If you decide to change the proposed rent, furnishings or access date, update the people coordinating the discussion. Keep one current brief so the next visitor receives the same information. A rental enquiry or visit does not confirm a tenant or a start date.
What to do now
Call with the current property details, viewing contact and the readiness questions still open.
